Who is responsible
This is a personal website run by me, Adnan Bukvic, in Sweden. I am the data controller under the GDPR, and you can reach me at [email protected].
What I don't do
- No cookies.
- No analytics, ad networks or tracking pixels.
- No accounts, sign-ups or forms.
- Nothing about you is sold, or shared for marketing.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the details of each request, such as the page and your browser, so that it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. I don't keep any logs of my own. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Other services your browser connects to
Some parts of the site are loaded straight from other services. Your browser connects to them directly, so they see your IP address like any website you visit would. This is what each one is for:
- cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) and jsDelivr: the icons and emoji on every page, and the code highlighting and Markdown libraries on article pages.
- Lanyard, an independent open-source service: my live Discord status on the home page, meaning what I'm listening to and doing right now.
- Discord and Apple: the album art and activity images for that status. With "Upgrade album art quality" turned on in Settings, the full-size cover can also come from the image host of Cider, the app I play Apple Music with.
- Apple (itunes.apple.com): finding the Apple Music link for the song I'm playing. Your browser's language is used to pick which country's store to search.
- GitHub: the star and fork counts and some of the images on the projects page.
I use these on the basis of my legitimate interest in running a working personal website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). I don't send them anything about you; they only get what your browser sends when it connects.
Several of these companies are based in the United States, so a connection may reach servers there. Where it does, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the provider's standard contractual clauses.
Lyrics
When you open the lyrics for a song I'm playing, your browser only talks to aridan.net. The site then fetches the lyrics from LRCLIB itself, so LRCLIB never sees your IP address, and nothing about the request is stored.
Stored on your device
Your settings, such as the theme, accent colour, language, lyrics style and the switches in Settings, are saved in your browser's local storage, along with a small cache of album colours. A service worker also keeps a copy of the site's files so pages load faster and work offline.
All of it stays on your device and is never sent to me. It is only there to make the site work the way you've asked it to, so it needs no consent, and you can clear it at any time from your browser's settings for this site.
Emails
If you email me, I get your address and whatever you write, and I use it to reply. It stays in my inbox until I delete it, and I will if you ask.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data I have about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, and get a copy of it. Unless you've emailed me, I don't hold anything about you, but just ask at the address above.
If you think I have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, at imy.se.
